History & Philosophy

Legacy Christian Academy is a ministry of New Testament Baptist Church. It was founded as New Testament Baptist Schools in 1997 as an alternative to the humanistic public school system. It was relaunched as Legacy Christian Academy in 2025.

This school, being an extension of New Testament Baptist Church, incorporates Pastor Thomas L. King as Administrative President and the deacon board as the school board. Without apology, Legacy Christian Academy holds to the doctrinal statement of New Testament Baptist Church. A copy of this statement is available upon request.

Legacy Christian Academy is designed to help families rear their children for Christian service. Its primary goal is to produce Christians who have been instilled with Christian character and Christian leadership. To help us accomplish this, our mission statement focuses on three areas.

Mission Statement

Creating a Legacy of Growing in Grace, Excellence in Academics, and Service to Others

Growing in Grace

    • Bible: We believe that the King James Bible is the inerrant, infallible, inspired, and preserved Word of God. It is our final authority and the only Bible we use.
    • All students must have their Bible (King James version only) at school every day.
    • Learning the Bible: We teach the Bible through daily Bible memorization, daily Bible classes, and weekly chapel. The Bible is not only taught, but permeates each subject with the goal of directing children and their families to live the Bible, not just know it.

EXCELLENCE IN ACADEMICS

Bob Jones Press Curriculum (the following information can be found on their website)

    • Biblical Worldview Shaping: Students learn how the Bible is relevant to every academic subject because each textbook includes biblical worldview shaping. Instead of beginning with man’s assumptions and then refuting them with God’s truth, we start with God’s truth as a standard.
    • Academic Rigor: Education involves both head and heart. Academic rigor is the educational experience that engages students in content appropriate to their academic level and helps them learn to analyze, evaluate, and ultimately create. We consult state and national standards and current educational research to help BJU Press products incorporate educational best practices.
    • Critical Thinking: An academically rigorous learning experience doesn’t just teach students what to think; it teaches them how to think. Analysis, evaluation, and creation are critical-thinking skills and are essential to 21st century teaching and learning. We want to equip teachers with strategies and tools to engage student with content, instruct students in content, and develop critical-thinking skills so that students can discover the joy of learning.

Classes offered: We have a K5-12th grade school, with all traditional subjects (math, English, reading, writing, history, and science) taught on a daily basis. We are a traditional school with all subjects taught by a teacher in the classroom. All students take part in physical education and music classes.

High School: some electives may be offered through DVD or online courses.

SERVICE TO OTHERS

      • Our students are encouraged to see the world around them as Christ would see it, looking for ways to be a blessing to others.
      • We offer programs and incentives to help students learn how to serve others.
